Emergency plumber & electrician FAQs
Straight answers about arrival times, prices, what we fix and how callouts work.
Getting an engineer
Do you guarantee your work?
Yes, we stand behind it. If something we fixed goes wrong, call us and we'll come back to check it free of charge. If our work caused the problem, we put it right at no extra cost. New parts also carry the manufacturer's warranty.
How quickly can you get to me?
We aim to be with you within 60 minutes anywhere in Greater London, and 60 to 90 minutes in towns just outside, like Watford, Slough or Guildford. London traffic and busy nights can sometimes make it longer. When that happens, we tell you honestly and keep you updated, so you're never left wondering.
Do you really work nights and bank holidays?
Yes. We're on call 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, including Christmas Day.
Prices and payment
What's included in the callout charge?
Travel to you and the first hour on site. Further time is charged in 30-minute blocks, and parts are charged at the price on your quote.
Are there any extra charges on top?
No. Travel, parking, the congestion charge, ULEZ and VAT are all included in the callout. The only other cost is parts, and you see their price on your quote before we start.
Do you charge for parking or the congestion charge?
No. Many London firms add these to the bill. We include them in the callout, wherever you are in London.
What if I decide not to go ahead?
You pay only the callout charge. We'll leave the area safe before we go.
Is it cheaper to wait until the morning?
Often, yes. Daytime rates are lower. If water or power is under control and nothing is unsafe, we'll tell you honestly if it can wait.
Do you charge more for some London postcodes?
No. The same prices apply across every London borough we cover. Outer towns may take longer to reach, but the price list is the same.
How do I pay?
By card or bank transfer when the job is done. Landlords and businesses can ask for an account with monthly invoicing.
Do you work for landlords and businesses?
Yes. We work in rented flats, HMOs, shops, restaurants and offices, and can meet your tenant if you can't be there. See landlords and businesses.

How quickly can you fix a burst pipe in London?
We aim to be with you within 60 minutes anywhere in Greater London. Heavy traffic or a very busy night can make it longer, and if so we'll tell you honestly and keep you updated. Most burst pipes are fixed on the first visit.
Where is my stopcock?
In most homes it's under the kitchen sink. It can also be by the front door, under the stairs, in a downstairs toilet or in a cupboard in a flat. See our stopcock guide for photos and tips.
Can you unblock a toilet at night?
Yes. Our plumbers work 24 hours a day. If it's your only toilet, tell us when you call and we'll prioritise it.
What causes most blocked toilets?
Wet wipes are the most common cause, even ones labelled flushable. Too much toilet paper, sanitary products and children's toys come next.
Electrics
When should I call an emergency electrician?
Call straight away if you have no power you can't restore, a fuse box that keeps tripping, a burning smell, scorch marks, sparks, or water near electrics. If there's smoke or fire, call 999 first.
Are you a 24 hour electrician?
Yes. Our electricians are on call 24 hours a day, including weekends and bank holidays.
How quickly can an electrician get to me?
We aim to be with you within 60 minutes across Greater London, and 60 to 90 minutes in towns just outside. If traffic or a busy night means we'll be later, we'll tell you straight away and keep you updated.
Who do I call in a power cut?
If your whole street has no power, call 105. It's free. If only your home is affected, call us.
Why does my electric keep tripping?
Usually a faulty appliance, water getting into an outside light or socket, or damaged wiring. Unplug everything on that circuit and reset it. If it still trips, the fault is in the wiring.
Why does my electric keep tripping when everything is off?
Then the fault is probably in the fixed wiring, or in something wired in like an oven, shower or immersion heater. Leave the switch off and call an electrician.
Landlords and businesses
Can you meet my tenant if I can't be there?

Do you offer accounts for landlords and agents?

Do you attend commercial premises?
Yes. We attend shops, restaurants and offices, and can work out of hours to avoid disrupting trade.
Can my tenant call you directly?
Yes. Give your tenant our number. We'll check with you before any work above the limit you set, so there are no surprise bills.
Do you work in blocks of flats with a managing agent?
Yes. We work with porters, building managers and managing agents to isolate shared supplies and stop leaks reaching other flats.
Insurance
What if I don't want the repair after you quote?
